Adopt-A-Road Program: Community Outreach Activity
As part of the community outreach activity, OLPH GW Syro-Malabar Mission applied to the Montgomery County Government to participate in the “Adopt-A-Road Program” which is part of the County’s efforts to keep Montgomery County cleaner and healthier. The roads that have been assigned to us are Lost Knife Road and Contour Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Members of the Mission conducted its first road cleaning activity on July 20, 2013. More than 30 members actively participated in this community activity. We are required to conduct a minimum of six clean-up in one year and to report the activity to the county office.
This Adopt-A- Road Program allows residents to demonstrate community pride, make a positive statement for a clean and attractive community, have a better understanding of storm-water pollution and, above all, improves motorist safety. Our participants collected 4 large bags of trash and one large bag of recyclable items. OLPH Members are proud to be part of this civic activity.
