There isn’t much information on Saint Peter Chrysologus. St. Peter was baptized, educated, and ordained a deacon by Cornelius, Bishop of Imola. St. Peter merited being called "Chrysologus" (golden-worded) from his exceptional preachings. He destroyed the last few traces of paganism and other abuses that had sprouted among his people, cautioning them especially against indecent dancing. He said, "Anyone who wishes to frolic with the devil, cannot rejoice with Christ." He died in Italy in 450 and in 1729 was made a Doctor of the Church because of his simple, practical, and clear sermons.
INTERCESSORY PRAYER O God, You made Saint Peter Chrysologus an outstanding preacher of Your Word. Grant, through his intercession, that we may ponder in our hearts the mysteries of your salvation and faithfully express them in what we do. Through Christ, our Lord, amen.
